In the USA, Trip Advisor is now the third most visited website in the recreation category. We at Anna’s House have had a lovely year, thanks to our delightful guests and the attention of the media. In March, The Guardian gave up a full half page of their Travel Section to describe what we do and a Japanese Lifestyle Magazine printed four pages of pictures of our house, garden, dogs (alas now chasing rabbits in heaven) and me baking scones.
At Anna's House, we believe strongly in building a sustainable future and in reducing our impact on the environment. We use organic produce as our standard, and where possible we buy from local producers whose wonderful food you will certainly enjoy.
October marks the arrival of the Light-bellied Brent Geese at Castle Espie some 2 miles from Anna's House. Travelling from their breeding grounds in Arctic Canada a staggering 2,900 miles away, their journey takes them via Iceland, Greenland and over a mile high ice cap; one of the longest known migrations of any bird.
